Before joining Spero, I had the privilege of observing innovation at many stages: from iterating on brand strategy at a digital health startup, to witnessing how network and community shape a portfolio at Startup Health, to learning how to make decisions in a high-growth, product-driven environment at WHOOP.
All of these experiences reflect a common dynamic that we embrace at Spero: true innovation emerges when product, mission, and community intersect—often well before larger institutions catch on. At Spero, I’m excited to find and empower founders at that very intersection, helping them turn technology into transformative companies.
What gets you excited about startups and VC?
Despite all the doom and gloom surrounding healthcare and climate, we’re at a critical juncture–where technological breakthroughs, evolving business models, and shifting cultural norms are converging faster than ever. That puts us on the brink of a new frontier: one where disease can be eradicated, vibrant longevity becomes the norm, and our environment is designed with long-term health in mind.
Startups are uniquely positioned to meet this moment. As an investor, I get to peer into that future and play a part in shaping what it can become.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I played competitive tennis for nearly two decades. Because tennis is such an individual sport, it wasn’t until college that I truly realized what a huge advantage a strong team can be–nowhere is that more true than in early-stage companies.
Playing college tennis also means I have plenty of unsolicited opinions on all the new racket-sport derivatives that have become popular–just ask!
